Renewing Our Journey With Christ Through Worship, Ministry and Outreach (1899-2011)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Greetings in the name of the Triune God! Indeed, it is only by the grace and mercy of the Triune God that Nativity has been a place of worship and ministry for such a long time, some one hundred and ten years this year. To honor this historic milestone, we will embark on an eight-month long series of events, commencing with the office of solemn Evensong on March 1, 2009 and culminating with a special service on Sunday, November 8, 2009 . These dates coincide with the date for the establishment of the Nativity Mission, held on March 3, 1899 , and the dates of the ground-breaking ceremony for the present location and the laying of the cornerstone on October 31, 1909 and November 28, 1909 respectively. Interestingly, the 50th anniversary dinner was held on November 6, 1952 .

We have designated March 3, 2009 as a day of praying and fasting, followed by service in the evening. We hope that each member of Nativity will be able to join us at the church for the entire day – or for a considerable part thereof – so as to fast and pray for our church and its mission.

As we embark on this celebration, we are asking all members of Nativity and friends alike to give the church a sacrificial gift of One hundred and ten dollars ($110).  This gift may be given on March 1st, Easter Sunday, the Day of Pentecost, Homecoming Sunday, All Saints’ Day, Anniversary Service day (November 8), Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday or on the Nativity of our Lord (Christmas Day). This gift will go towards the establishment of a restricted Church Restoration Fund account.

Stay tuned for updates.
